FACEBOOK OFFERS LIVE VIDEO

Facebook is throwing itself more in the ring of online video, now directly challenging wildly popular Periscope by offering live video and real-time updates within their platform. I found this out after receiving a notification from popular YouTuber and #1 Periscoper Matthew Santoro's Facebook Page as he was updating his audience that he was at the airport using his new Canadian passport.

Comments rolled in talking about how they were surprised to have received a notification via Facebook.

This is big news for the online video world as the juggernaut Facebook looks at tackling and taking on YouTube, Periscope, and Vine and essentially all video platforms.

Unfortunately it's going to be a long and ugly battle since Facebook still doesn't widely offer Content ID, essentially allowing counterfeiting of videos from YouTube and Vine to happen on a daily basis.

If you want to learn more about this I posted a video over a month ago on this matter. That video, entitled How Facebook is Robbing Us Blind, can be found here. Popular YouTuber Hank Green made a blog about it entitled Theft, Lies, and Facebook Video.

The wild west of online video continues, and I'm personally looking forward to the day Facebook finally officially gets content ID. More on that later.
